I should probably have gone over who I am and why I’m doing
this project in my first post. However, since I have never blogged before I
hadn’t even thought of it. My name is Troy Dyer and I am a happily married
father with two young children; Josslyn (4) and Piercyn (2). I credit my children
for my renewed interest in mountain biking as they both have bikes now and thoroughly
enjoy riding them. I used to mountain bike on a regular basis when I was in
high school and my freshman year of college. Unfortunately my bike was stolen
during Christmas break my sophomore year and I never replaced it due to the
cost and my other hobbies of off-roading and snowboarding. Since that time I
have sold my Jeep, sold my Xterra and I have shelved my snowboarding gear. I never
realized how busy you can become with work and family when you have children.
It is an eye opener that I’m sure any parent can relate to. I find it very hard
to find time to do my own thing, but every once in a while I get a chance. I am
excited about this project because I am able to work on the bike in my garage close
to my family and there is an extensive trail system near my home. There is also
an up-and-coming bike park 15 minutes away and a very popular bike park 45
minutes away. This allows me the ability to get out and play, but be close to
home. Well, I think that about covers who and why for now. I hope you enjoy this
blog as I continue to post updates and pictures of my project as it progresses towards
completion!
